It really isn't JUST a shopping cart, it's a fully integrated, secure shopping environment that is built on a database foundation, and automatically generates HTML by merging the page database information with the product database information and linking in shipping and tax information and some very capable cgi's. It's a huge productivity tool compared to hand building such a site with pieces of code or cheap shopping cart software.
